About this event

Our next Atlanta Regional Housing Forum will continue its 2026 focus on Barriers to Producing Affordable Housing. Our June topic will focus specifically on Capital Barriers—what we’ve learned from the recent surge of housing investment across the Atlanta region, and what comes next.

Over the past several years, Atlanta has mobilized significant new capital through local bonds, philanthropic initiatives, and mission-driven lending. These resources have helped move deals forward and expand the region’s housing pipeline in ways previously not possible. At the same time, much of this capital is now deployed, and the system continues to face constraints around scale, speed, and alignment.

The Forum will begin with brief presentations from key capital leaders reflecting on what this funding has unlocked: which deals advanced, where flexibility mattered, and where gaps remain. The panel discussion will then shift to a more forward-looking conversation, focused on: what worked (and what didn’t) in deploying this capital; where the current capital stack is misaligned with real need; who is taking risk in today’s environment (and who is not); what it will take to recapitalize, scale, and sustain this work going forward

We are especially interested in moving to a candid discussion about what’s next for housing finance in the region, including new tools, partnerships, and policy considerations that could unlock the next phase of production.

Our presenters for this conversation include:

Bill Bolling, Forum Founder and Moderator

Frank Fernandez, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

John O’Callaghan, Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership

Amanda Rhein, City of Atlanta

Dr. Alan Ferguson, DeKalb County Government*

Dr. Ferguson will join the “What’s next” portion of the panel conversation to share recent, exciting developments in DeKalb County.
